Vani Jairam was an Indian playback singer in Indian cinema. She is referred to as the "Meera of modern India" Vani's career started in 1971 and has spanned over five decades. She did playback for over one thousand Indian movies recording over 20,000 songs. In addition, she recorded thousands of devotionals and private albums and also participated in numerous solo concerts in India and abroad.

🎤 In 1971, Vani Jairam recorded her first playback song for the Hindi film 'Guddi', launching a career that would span over 50 years and more than 20,000 songs across 17 Indian languages.

Born Kalaivani in 1945 in Vellore, Tamil Nadu, she gave her first public performance at age 8 on All India Radio, Madras, after rigorous Carnatic training under masters like Kadalur Srinivas Iyengar.
3🌍 After moving to Mumbai in 1969 post-marriage, she trained in Hindustani classical music under Ustad Abdul Rehman Khan of the Patiala gharana, which helped her versatility in multiple Indian musical styles.
4🏆 Vani Jairam is the youngest recipient of the "Sangeet Peet Samman" and won three National Film Awards for Best Female Playback Singer, as well as state awards from Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and Gujarat.
