Vaidyanatha Ganapati Sthapati was a Sthapati and head of the College of Architecture and Sculpture in the Vastu Shastra tradition ascribed to the sage Mamuni Mayan.

In 1927, V. Ganapati Sthapati was born in Pillayarpatti, Tamil Nadu, into a lineage tracing back 30 generations of temple architects, including the builder of the Brihadisvara Temple completed in 1010 CE.

๐ŸŒŸ After earning a mathematics degree from Dr. Alagappa Chettiar College, he became the chief architect of Palani Murugan Temple before succeeding his father as Principal of the Government College of Architecture and Sculpture in Tamil Nadu.
3In the 1980s, he led a campaign to affiliate traditional Vastu Shastra courses to the University of Madras, enabling formal degree programs for temple architecture and reviving an ancient knowledge system.
