🎤 In 1969, Usha Uthup performed for the first time publicly at Chennai's Nine Gems nightclub, wearing a saree and leg calipers, instantly captivating the audience with her deep contralto voice despite initial skepticism.

In the early 1970s, she transitioned to Calcutta’s famed nightclub Trincas, where she met her future husband, Jani Chacko Uthup, marking a personal and professional turning point.
3🎬 A Navketan film crew spotted her singing at a Delhi Oberoi hotel, leading to her Bollywood playback debut in the 1970 film Bombay Talkies, where she sang an English number, unusual for Indian cinema at the time.
