Uma Sharma is a kathak dancer, choreographer and teacher. She also runs the Bharatiya Sangeet Sadan, a classical dance and music academy, situated in New Delhi, founded by her father in 1946. She is most known for reviving the old classical dance form of Natwari Nritya or the Raslila of Brindavan, which later evolved into the Kathak.

In 1942, Uma Sharma was born in Delhi into a family from Dholpur, Rajasthan, setting the stage for her future in Kathak rooted in North Indian culture.

3In 1946, her father founded Bharatiya Sangeet Sadan in New Delhi, which Uma Sharma would later lead, becoming a key institution for classical dance and music education.
4Uma Sharma revived Natwari Nritya, the ancient Raslila dance of Brindavan, reconnecting Kathak directly to devotional Krishna poetry and performance traditions from medieval to 19th century.
