Sudha Ragunathan is an Indian Carnatic vocalist, singer and composer. She was conferred the Kalaimamani award by the Government of Tamil Nadu in 1994, Padma Shri (2004) and Padma Bhushan (2015) by the Government of India, and Sangeetha Kalanidhi by Madras Music Academy in 2013.

🎶 In 1977, at age 20, Sudha Ragunathan won an Indian government scholarship to study Carnatic music under Dr. M.L. Vasantha Kumari, marking the start of a 13-year guru-shishya immersion where she absorbed concert nuances by silently accompanying her teacher on tanpura.

At just 26 years old in 1994, she was awarded the Kalaimamani by Tamil Nadu, a state honor recognizing her vibrant presence in the Carnatic music scene.
