1. In 1880, Rajshekhar Basu was born at his maternal uncle's home in Bamunpara near Kandorsona, now Purba Bardhaman district, West Bengal, but he grew up speaking Hindi first in Darbhanga, Bihar, rather than Bengali.
2. 🌡️ As a child, Basu built a home laboratory with two cupboards of chemicals and even forecast weather using a barometer he hung himself, showing early signs of scientific curiosity.
3. In 1903, he joined Bengal Chemicals & Pharmaceuticals as a chemist under Acharya Prafulla Chandra Roy and rose quickly to director, a role he held until his retirement in 1932.
