🌾 Born in 1880 in Lamhi near Banaras, Dhanpat Rai Srivastava was nicknamed 'Nawab' by his uncle, a rich landowner, reflecting early social contrasts that would shape his stories.

At age 7 in 1887, he started education in a madrasa learning Urdu and Persian, languages in which he would later pioneer social fiction blending Hindi and Urdu.
3📚 After losing his mother and grandmother by age 8, Premchand found refuge in books, selling them at a wholesaler’s shop and reading works like George W. M. Reynolds's eight-volume "The Mysteries of the Court of London."
