In 1880, at Pedem near Chiplun in Maharashtra, Pandurang Vaman Kane began memorizing the Sanskrit thesaurus Amarakosa under his father's guidance, setting the stage for his lifetime immersed in ancient texts.

🌟 By 1903, Kane had earned an M.A. in both English and Sanskrit from Wilson College, Bombay, simultaneously teaching at Elphinstone High School before becoming a Sanskrit professor at Elphinstone College in 1909.
3In 1930, Kane published the first volume of his monumental History of Dharmaśāstra, a 6,500-page five-volume work completed over three decades and regarded as an encyclopedic digest of ancient and medieval Indian law.
