Naresh Trehan is an Indian cardiovascular and cardiothoracic surgeon. After graduating from King George's Medical University, Lucknow, India, he went on to practice at New York University Medical Center, Manhattan, USA from 1971 to 1988. He returned to India and started Escorts Heart Institute and Research Centre. He serves as the chairman and managing director and chief cardiac surgeon of Medanta-The Medicity.

The Story

In 1963, Naresh Trehan entered King George's Medical College, Lucknow, where his medical foundation was laid before he moved to the US in 1969 to start a residency at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia.

🌍 By 1971, Trehan had joined New York University Medical Center in Manhattan, where he practiced cardiovascular surgery until 1988, performing pioneering surgeries guided by Dr. Frank Spencer.
3💉 In 1988, despite a thriving career in the US, Trehan returned to India and co-founded the Escorts Heart Institute and Research Centre in Delhi, which became a hub for innovative cardiac procedures, including robotically assisted surgeries.
4🏥 Medanta - The Medicity, founded by Trehan in 2009 on a sprawling 43-acre site in Gurgaon, merged modern and traditional medicine, setting a new standard for multi-specialty healthcare in India.
