🔔 Add birthday reminderJyeshtharaj Bhalchandra Joshi is an Indian chemical engineer, nuclear scientist, consultant and professor, widely known for his innovations in design of multiphase reactors and nuclear reactor designs and generally regarded as a respected teacher. He is currently the Chancellor of the Institute of Chemical Technology, Mumbai. He also held the DAE-Homi Bhabha Chair Professor at Homi Bhabha National Institute, Mumbai, and is the recipient of Shantiswarup Bhatnagar Prize for Engineering Sciences and many other awards and recognitions. He received the third highest civilian honour, the Padma Bhushan, in 2014 for his services to the field of chemical engineering and nuclear science.

1. 🌟 In 1971, Jyeshtharaj Joshi graduated with a Bachelor’s in Chemical Engineering from UDCT Mumbai, immediately embarking on research under Man Mohan Sharma, a pivotal figure in Indian chemical engineering.
2. By 1977, Joshi earned his Ph.D. (Tech.) and began designing over 1000 novel multiphase reactors, a feat that transformed reactor design standards in chemical industries worldwide.
3. From 1999 to 2008, as Director of ICT Mumbai, he spearheaded its elevation to deemed university status and boosted research funding through innovative partnerships and consultancies.
4. 💥 In 2009, Joshi joined Homi Bhabha National Institute as DAE-Homi Bhabha Chair Professor, contributing to the safety systems of the Advanced Heavy Water Reactor and the development of Bhabha Kavach, India’s indigenous bulletproof jacket.
5. 🌐 With over 630 international publications and 26,000 citations, Joshi’s research on multiphase reactors and process intensification reshaped chemical process engineering globally.
