Vajpayee's tenure redefined India's nuclear strategy with the 1998 Pokhran-II tests, establishing India as a declared nuclear state and altering South Asian security dynamics. His push for infrastructure development and economic reforms opened India’s markets to private and foreign investment, setting the stage for modernization. Furthermore, his diplomatic overtures toward Pakistan, including the Lahore bus journey and Agra summit, left a template for engagement amid conflict.
