1. 🌟 In 1950, Anna Rajam Malhotra cleared the Civil Services Examination, becoming the first woman to do so and stepping into a male-dominated arena in Madras State. 2. Despite the UPSC board's initial suggestion in 1951 to place her in Foreign or Central Services as 'more suitable for women,' she insisted on joining the IAS, facing resistance from four ICS officers led by R. N. Banerjee. 3. 🐎 Equipped with training in horse riding, rifle and revolver shooting, and magisterial powers, she defied Chief Minister C. Rajagopalachari's doubts and was appointed Sub Collector of Tirupattur, the first woman to hold such a post in Madras State. 4. She served under seven Chief Ministers in Madras and the Indian government, holding roles from Under Secretary in Agriculture to Secretary to the Government of India in Education and Culture, showcasing a broad administrative portfolio. 5. 🚢 As Chairperson of the Nhava Sheva Port Trust in Mumbai, she spearheaded the creation of India's first computerized port, transforming it into a symbol of modernization and efficiency. 6.
